Trade and economic cooperation

Trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is characterized by relative stability. Since the beginning of the administration of the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, a stabilization of the socio-economic situation in Ghana has been observed.

The government has begun implementing a program to improve the country's economy, measures to overcome the negative consequences of the financial and economic crisis, create favorable conditions for doing business and the influx of foreign investment. There are plans to implement several energy projects with the attraction of large foreign investors.

In 2024, GDP amounted to $82.8 billion ($2,410 per capita), or 105.7% of the 2023 level. According to IMF estimates, taking into account the growth of the agricultural and industrial sectors, gold and oil production, in 2025 Ghana's GDP is estimated at about $120 billion (more than $3,200 per capita), a growth rate of 6%. GDP structure: services — 44%, industry — 40%, agriculture — about 10%, other industries — 6%.

Ghana's leadership pays great attention to the development of agriculture. A promising area for the development of Belarusian-Ghanaian trade and economic cooperation is the supply of tractors, agricultural machinery, and mineral fertilizers to this country. Work is underway to implement a joint project in Ghana to supply Belarusian agricultural machinery as part of the Agricultural Mechanization Program of the Republic of Ghana. It is planned to supply Belarus tractors, trailed and mounted equipment, and combines for harvesting and threshing crops.

The state visit of Ghanaian President J.D. Mahama to Belarus (June 5-9, 2026) contributed to the intensification of bilateral cooperation in agriculture, industry, and petrochemistry.
