Requirements for Student visa

Visa processing starts only after we have collected ALL necessary documents, interviewed an applicant and received money for the required visa.

Normally it takes us 5 (five) working days to issue a visa; express visas are proceeded within 2 (two) working days.

Please, note that we DO NOT ACCEPT visa documents delivered to the Consular Section by courier services.

Every applicant has to submit his/her documents and come for the interview PERSONALLY.

The Consular Section NEVER informs the Applicant about the reasons for refusal.

Visa fee is charged to cover the cost of processing of a visa application. Visa fees are non-refundable.

PLEASE, NOTE THAT THE EMBASSY COLLECTS THE VISA FEE AS THE ONLY PAYMENT FOR THE VISA ISSUING!

THE EMBASSY DOES NOT COOPERATE WITH ANY MEDIATORS OR AGENTS ON THE SUBJECT OF GRANTING ANY RIGHTS OR PRIVILEGES WHICH GO BEYOND THESE VISA REQUIREMENTS OR SOMEHOW CONTRADICT THEM!

1. PASSPORT

A valid original passport (“Permit for Reentry” or “Refugee Travel Document” are also acceptable). A passport should have at least two blank visa pages and should be valid for at least 90 days upon conclusion of your trip.

2. VISA SUPPORT DOCUMENTS

TYPE C /short term/

▪ For a student visa:

 — An original invitation of the Belarusian educational institution, approved by the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, for the period, specified in the invitation.

· the visa application form should be filled out in legible handwriting or typing (in BLOCK   LETTERS), in English or Belarusian/ Russian

· answers to the questions should be complete and logically consistent and indicate the  real purpose of the visit

· the purpose of the visit should be specified in detail

· if a question does not apply, please, write “N/A”, no blank spaces must be left, incomplete forms will be returned to the applicants unprocessed

· it is the applicant’s responsibility to check whether the information given on the form is correct

· contact details (telephone number and address) should be specified in detail

· the application form should be signed by the applicant personally; failure to observe this requirement may result in refusal of the application

· the visa application form for a minor should be signed by their legal representative

ATTENTION OF A PERSON APPLYING FOR A STUDENT VISA:

Paragraphs 21 and 22 of the application form should be filled out completely.

Address of inviting organization is the exact address of the University.

Address of stay in Belarus is the exact address of Students` hostel.

If You don`t know the addresses You have to contact the University.

4. PHOTOGRAPH

One photograph of the applicant should be attached (stapled or pasted) to the marked space at the upper right-hand corner of the application form. Do not staple the face.

The photograph must meet the following requirements:

taken within the last 6 months;

in color;

professionally printed in high quality on photo paper;

45 mm high by 35 mm wide;

in sharp focus and clear;

taken on plain, light and evenly lit background;

taken in full-face view directly facing the camera;

with a neutral facial expression and both eyes open;

with no shadows, glare, noise or distortion on the image or background;

sized such that the face takes 70–80% of the photograph;

with no ink marks, tears or creases;

must not be retouched.

5. PAYMENT

The Embassy accepts only Euro.

Bank-notes with stamps or defects are not accepted.

6. MEDICAL INSURANCE

All visa applicants have to present a medical travel insurance valid for Belarus or worldwide.

A travel insurance has to contain the following information:

name, address and phone number of the insurance company;

full name of the policy holder;

insurance policy number;

insurance territorial coverage (should be valid in Belarus or worldwide);

insurance term of validity (should be valid through the period of the travel or temporary residence in Belarus);

amount of emergency medical coverage (should not be less than 10.000 Euro ~ $12.000 with $0 deductible).

Please kindly note that a photocopy of insurance card will not be sufficient enough to meet the above requirements.

The insurance coverage letter is a compulsory document. Applicants missing this document will systematically have their visa denied.

All travellers need to have the insurance coverage letter in original during their stay in Belarus.

Medical insurance can be issued by any Nigerian insurance company.

7.GENERAL MEDICAL CERTIFICATE LEGALIZED BY THE MFA OF NIGERIA ISSUED NOT LATER THAN THREE MONTHS BEFORE ENTRY TO BELARUS (+ ONE PHOTOCOPY).

8.MEDICAL CERTIFICATE CONFIRMING ABSENCE OF HIV/AIDS LEGALIZED BY THE MFA OF NIGERIA ISSUED NOT LATER THAN THREE MONTHS BEFORE ENTRY TO BELARUS (+ ONE PHOTOCOPY).

9.ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPTS (OR NOTARIZED BY OATH COMMISSIONER OR NOTARY PUBLIC COPIES) OF SCHOOL-LEAVING CERTIFICATE OF GENERAL EDUCATIONAL SCHOOLS AND COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA ETC TO BE LEGALIZED IN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA (+ ONE PHOTOCOPY).

10.CERTIFICATE OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA WHICH CONFIRMS ACCREDITATION OF GENERAL EDUCATIONAL SCHOOLS AND COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY ETC. AND RIGHT OF A GRADUATE TO CONTINUE STUDY IN THE HIGHER SCHOOL, TO BE LEGALIZED IN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA (+ ONE PHOTOCOPY).

11.ORIGINAL OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE (OR NOTARIZED BY OATH COMMISSIONER OR NOTARY PUBLIC COPIES)  TO BE LEGALIZED IN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA (+ ONE PHOTOCOPY).

11. TICKET RESERVATION WITH OPEN DATE VALID FOR ONE YEAR

12. RECENT STATEMENT OF A PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT OF A SPONSOR (FOR THE PERIOD OF HALF A YEAR);

13. LETTER OF SPONSORSHIP (AUTHORIZED BY OATH COMMISSIONER).

Legalization of documents

The Federal Republic of Nigeria is not a Member State of Convention canceling the requirement of legalization of official foreign documents from 1961 (the Hague Convention). That is why the official documents issued from establishments and organizations of the Republic of Belarus and intended for actions on the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and vice versa subject to consular legalization.

Legalization of documents (consular legalization) consists of determination and certification of authenticity of signatures on documents and compliance thereof with laws of the state of their origin.

Consulate legalization confirms authenticity of signatures of officials on documents and seals of competent state authorities as well as correctness of execution and compliance with national laws of documents sent from one state and intended for presentation in any other state.

Documents, issued by Nigerian authorities and intended for usage in the Republic of Belarus are legalized in the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Abuja after their legalization in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Consul testifies the authenticity of the signature of the official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by signing the document with legalizing inscription.
